We had a great time with Rubens, he is really the jungle man. We saw many wild life animals, monkeys, sloths, spiders and especially snakes, Rubens caught one and we were so scared, he is really the snake man.
Amazing tour in the Amazon Rainforest with Ruben,he was a lot of fun to be with but he knew his stuff and was willing to take the time to tell us all about what we were seeing and how they survived in the jungle. I have been to the jungle in many place and have had some great guides but most guide want to stick to the book and just do as they are told. Reuben was always ready to try something different or work with us as thing have a way of changing sometimes. Weather is a big factor in the jungle and we made the best of each and everyday. Looking forward to coming back to Manaus and doing another tour with Rueben. He Rocks.
My jungle tour with Ruben was Amazing. He knows his stuff and enjoys sharing it with other. Been to the jungle a few time but not with such a Great Guide, he was willing to take the time to explain and help us understand how all things work and continue to survive in the jungle. Looking forward to returning to Manaus soon and going with Rueben again and this time I want to see all of the snakes that one man can see. The local family we went to visit had a wonderful snake and the skin of a very large snake, couldn’t spend enough time with the family to learn about their survival and how they continue to live in the Amazon Rainforest.
Ruben Rocks.
Rubens knows everything about the jungle: animals, trees, where to find water, where to camp… We spent four days with him and we felt secure and protected all the time. And he is also fun!
Ruben (aka Pineapple) is really a wonder guide. He took his time to find many of the animals hidden in the jungle. Always smiling and making jokes, Ruben will keep you happy. He speaks great English, aims to please, and loves guacamole. If you are lucky enough to have Ruben as your guide, you should be ready for any adventure! And watch out, he will show you what bugs you can eat, and will tell you they taste like coconut…and they do!
I visit the Amazonas with Rubens because my brazilian friends recommended him to me. It was a great choice and everything was fantastic. We had fun day and night and we experienced great moments surrounded by wildlife and heartbreaking landscapes!!! INCREIBLE him and his boat driver!!! I have brought home uncountable great pics and experiences! Thanks Rubens!!!
i already know rubens for 6 years,did 4 trips with him,mostly fishing.we catched a lott of tucanare(peacockbass),biggg fighters,arowana,and a lott off different piranha(50different species,only redbelly is agressive…..i know by myself……)and bigg catfish

The Private tour me and my father had with Ruben was one of the best trips I ever had.
Not only we experienced the real National Geographic type tour of the wild Jungle we also had an amazing time with him.
This trip fit young as old, I am in my 30th and my father in his 70th and we both loved it.
Highly recommended, you will never forget it.
Absolutely brilliant! We had a great time exploring the Amazon jungle and its culture and no one else better than Rubens to combine them both! We had a fantastic time sleeping in the jungle, learning about animals and plants and experiencing some times the most unbelievable adventures following Rubens, who is always joking or singing in front of you! A definite plus about “touring” the jungle with him is that he is good in communicating, which is a problem for most local guides. Rubinho, as we call him, has been recommended by us several times and friends have always been happy about it!
Looking forward to go back one day! Cheers!
Rubens (Ananas
) was my guide and a friend during my 4 days stay in Amazon area. Together with others we did many interesting things around our lodge: trekking, canoeing, cayman spotting, … He was always encouraging me to forget about my fears and do my best in all the activities. He is very knowledgeable and always provided us with all the information needed.
Beside guiding us, Ananas made sure all of us are having fun and are being comfortable. Since I’m not a morning person, he was also my personal alarm clock every day
I highly recommend him and can’t wait to meet him in the future on another tour
I spent a few days in the Amazon with Billy. Enthusiastic, knowledgable and funny but most importantly can handle himself really well. Knows his stuff very well and is a great laugh to boot.
Ruben and Spiderman are a lethal combination in the Amazon. Dee and I had a blast during the 4 nights we were housed and could not recommend this bloke any more highly!
He knows his stuff (especially snakes!), is knowledgeable about other cultures and is just too funny. One of the best tour guides I have come across. Book him in!
My wife and I visited the Amazon in May 2010, Rubens was our guide for four days in the jungle south of Manaus a ways. Within a couple hours of arriving at our jungle lodge, Rubens took us by boat and we saw iguanas, monkeys, Tarantulas, snakes, mother & baby sloth….amazing. Later that night he caught small caimans for us by hand floating in the darkness. We fished for pirahnas with rudimentary sticks, twine and hook, catching many easily (great eating fish btw!). He and his assistant built us a camp out in the jungle for an overnight camp where we slept in hammocs suspended from a make-shift bivouac, and cooked us food that we ate with utensils, plates, and table built from the wood found in the jungle, and banana leaves.
His knowledge of the jungle and his good-natured personality easily make him the best guide I’ve ever had in all of my travels. Most importantly, my wife and I felt entirely safe in unsafe surroundings with his expertise. I still tell stories to my friends back in Canada about just how incredibly bad-ass this guy is….he’s the real deal. Miss you brother Rubens! Hope to be back to Manaus someday!
My time in the Amazon was an amazing experience and will stay with me for the rest of my life! The jungle is a dangerous place but with Rubens you are in good hands. Using real indian survival techniques, he has options for relaxing excursions and can also cater for the more adventurous trekkers. He is also a very cool and charming guy with lots of stories to tell – I would definitely take another tour any time!!
i did the tour with ruben few years ago.
we had the best time of the trip at that tour.
ruben is so nice, know everything, explain and teach about the amazaons, help at everything he can, and make fun all the time.
i have no doubt that he is the top guide at that area. i remember that week until today, and we had there some crazy things and experience that you can’t get anywhere else.
i recommend on ruben, a great guide, a great person and fun time to be with him at the amazonas.
do the tour with him – you won’t regret it !!!
have fun!
I stumbled across Ruben in Manaus and ended up going on a Jungle treck with him… and it was hands down the most authentic and memorable tour of my life. Ruben is a fantastic person and even though I was in dangerous territory, I felt safe with him the whole time. He caters the tour for whatever you are comfortable with. On our tour, we went canoeing where he actually climbed a tree and brought a sloth into our canoe to play with, night spear fishing, Cayman catching, piranha fishing, tree climbing to get fresh assai to eat, slept in the jungle in hammocks, made campfires, drank and played lots of cards, and took many scenic boat tours. We even went swimming. If you go, I can guarantee you one thing… you will NOT be disappointed, and although Manaus is a little off the beaten track, it is definitely worth the trip. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me on facebook. I live in Halifax, Canada. Thanks.
Did an amazing jungle trip with Rubens in 2007.Never had such a good jungle guide since. He’s a great fin, knowledgable guide with exceptional animal spotting skills!
What can I say about Rubens?
He knows his stuff, he is very professional and is great fun to be around!
I am looking forward to making another trip with him in the future. Yes, I want to go deep jungle survival!
I have travelled all around the world (75 countries and counting), and Rubens is definitely in my top 3 of local guides who make the trip that bit more special!
You won’t regret booking an ‘adventure’ with him! He’ll adapt your adventure to your level of need (I have seen him do it), from the semi-squeamish to the full-blown jungle experience!
We met several guides on our tour of the Amazon, and by lucky chance we inherited Ruben for several days of our trip. Ruben is the real deal. While the other guides were knowledgeable and helpful, Ruben was hardcore, biting off the heads of piranhas, climbing up trees and swimming in piranha water to catch a 6 foot boa constrictor, fishing a sloth out of a tree, catching caymans with his bare hands, and on top of all that, being a master of languages and humor as well!
One sweltering night, we went out to camp in the jungle with Ruben and Spiderman. We splayed hammocks between some large trees cut for the occasion and tried to sleep in our mosquito nets while tarantulas crawled underneath and jaguars patrolled our perimeter. Ruben cooked up some dinner on the campfire and showed us how to weave fans out of palm fronds to fan ourselves in the humid heat.
Ruben was also totally open to suggestions when we wanted to do something not on the original itinerary. He introduced us to the local schoolteacher and we played soccer with the local kids of the river. We will never forget Ruben and we hope to someday return to spend more time in the jungle with him!
Ruben was everything you could hope for in a tour guide: entertaining, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. The several days we spent with him in October 2011 proved to be some of the most fantastic and unforgettable of our Brazil vacation. Ruben showed us all the crowd-pleasers for an Amazon trip — the sloths, pink dolphins, piranhas, etc. — but because Ruben also talked about the Amazon’s changing landscape and issues in rainforest conservation, our tours never felt cliched or artificial. With Ruben as our guide, we felt truly integrated into our surroundings and by the end of our trip, we were wishing we could have stayed longer. Hope to go back to spend more time with Ruben some day!
Ruben took us through the Amazone, or better through the arm of a small river near Rio Solimoes, and through the Jungle there. He explained us parts of the culture and rituals there and I ate a larva which tasted like coco with him =) He is a truely nice and helpful person and has interesting stories about to tell about the amazon. He also likes to laugh and joke around and makes the trip a good mixture of interesing and funny parts, but he is also very professional and does not cross any border that he shouldn’t. I can recommend to book trips with him and I’ll do so when I get back to the amazon!
Ciao Ragazzi, I spent 5 days in the Amazon with Rubens and it was a great experience. He is a specialized and qualified english speaking guide. He ‘s indigenous and grew up in the Forest so he will be able to show and explain anything about local Flora and Fauna. More than a guide, he is a nice and smart friend. The best option for your tour or excursion into the rainforest. I strongly reccomend him.
The absolutely highlight of my trip to brazil was the amazon. I can thank one man for that and this is Ruben. Couldn’t wish for a better guide than him. He is highly professional and enthusiastic about what he is doing and he makes you feel safe and comfortable. You will also get to laugh a lot around Ruben. The overnight in the jungle is a most do! I saw all the animals I wanted to see, even more than I expected. The only bad thing to say about the tour, is that it was to short! Wish I stayed longer. One day I will be back
